Here are some examples of my work. I have ongoing relationships with most of these site owners, and continue to update their sites as they request.
Some clients come to me with fairly specific ideas of what they want, or with some of a site already written that they would like me to work with. Others prefer to simply choose from options I offer them. Either way is interesting for me. The real goal is to create a site that the client feels best represents his or her business and intentions, as well as one which will be readily adaptable as the business changes and grows.
Richard S. Barnett
Mr. Barnett is a longtime client of mine, and recently, he decided to create this new site, showcasing all of his books. He sent me a great picture of himself, which simply cried out to be the first thing you'd see on his home page.
In order to highlight his picture, I created a magazine-style lay out, to make the text follow the curves of his face. Other pages have some very custom lay out also, some to make text-rich pages easier to read, others to make his product offerings stand out more sharply. All site graphics are custom-made, and began with a marbled end-paper in an antique book owned by Mr. Barnett.
This gentleman offers a regular newsletter, which I also designed; it is a simplified version of the text pages of this site.
Angel Pearson - ArtPea
Angel Pearson is a graphic designer who wished to have her site reflect her brochure. I created for her a dual menu system, one to show all the pages of her brochure, and another to show examples of her work. All of the images except for her favicon are her own.
The Compleat Joiner

This is the latest version of Mr. Barnett's original website, The Compleat Joiner, which offers a selection of material in his book, "All Kinds of Scented Wood."
On this page we made fun use of pop-up windows to show off the trees which are the subjects of his book. He has made a list of all the types of wood mentioned in the Bible, and here, if you click on the little tree icons, a separate window appears to show pictures of each tree. This was a tactic we chose to allow him to show material on other websites, without taking his visitors away from his site.
The owner, Mr. Barnett, has specifically said he would be happy to recommend my work, and is willing to be emailed for references.
Teeple Monogramming
This is a recent site I wrote where the owner started off with some elements already in place. The basic T logo was already created, the colors had been chosen, and there was a simpler version of the menu. I elaborated on the menu, making it a little fancier, and wrote all the pages (not the text, just the HTML.)
This client offers several dozen products, each with a slightly different set of customer choices. I designed her shopping cart pages, and came up with ways to help her customers navigate the many options in a smooth way.
The owner also requested the page you see here, the splash page, with a horizontal version of her menu, and more developed logo.
UPDATE: Teeple Monogramming recently bought another company and took on some partners. I was asked to update the site somewhat, mainly by replacing the old logo with the new one, Three Threads.
Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty
I am currently completely redesigning this site! Within a few short weeks, it will look totally different, and I will be revamping all of the pages. Over time and several minor redesigns, the existing site has become a bit...in need of repair and upgrade. It's all happening right now.
This is a site I helped design for a non-profit group. I mainly just designed a container so that their on-staff person could write and update the pages, so I did not do most of the content. I created the black and red graphics for the banner and the navigation to lend immediacy and drama to the group's message.
Austin Time 4 Dinner
This site existed in another form when I began to work on it; most of the graphics and navigation were already chosen. I did not change the appearance very much, but I did rewrite all the HTML to make it function more smoothly, and added several pages. I continue to update the site as the client's business needs change.
Clear Light Soap
This is the latest version of the first website I ever made. It was for a soap company that I used to run, which is now for sale.
I still think this is one of the prettiest sites I've ever made, and I learned a great deal in the process. All the images here are custom designed. The navigation buttons were made to look like tarot cards. The pages for the shopping cart all have photographs of each of my products that pop up when the viewer clicks them to show the ingredients. This is a nice thing to offer if you have products that have special features or ingredients, or when you want to offer people more information than you wish to put on the page itself.
It's been over two years since I last made this soap, and people still ask me when I'm making more. It is a wonderful part-time business with loyal and kind customers, and if you know anyone who might like to have it, I am selling the website, the formulas, the label designs, most of the hardware, and my support services. Please feel free to email me for more information.
